I believe part of being a witch is working with nature in all ways possible. We should use the gifts around us to create utilitarian tools whenever our talents allow for this. I love baskets and about fifteen years ago I decided to make my own. There are wild grapes that are plentiful in my area of the country and if left alone they can choke the trees and eventually kill them. I chose these vines to use in their natural state and as is my nature I didn't use a pattern. I let the vines decide the form the basket would take. I've sold some and kept others for my own uses. I have two large ones I use for drying sheep's wool in the sun. I buy whole freshly shorn fleeces from a friend and wash the wool to use in my crafts. The smaller ones with a handle are good for gathering herbs or hanging in the kitchen with bundles of herbs for drying. My baskets are primitive by design. I've pictured some of my baskets below.
You can be at ease only with those people to whom you can say any damn fool thing that comes into your head, knowing they will respond in kind, and knowing that any misunderstandings will be thrashed out right now, rather than buried deep and given a chance to fester.

The baskets are beautiful. And your comment is very appropriate. All around great job.
I used to smoke grapevines as a child.
